A Penn State Altoona student from Canonsburg was killed Sunday in a Logan car accident that injured four other students, police said.
Nicole Chauvet, 19, was pronounced dead at Altoona Regional Medical Center. A Canon McMillan High School graduate, Ms. Chauvet was an education major who hoped become a school principal, friends said.
The two-car crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Ms. Chauvet was traveling in a Honda Civic with four other Penn State Altoona students when the car turned left into the path of a Jaguar at Chestnut Avenue and Juniata Gap Road, said Logan Township police Chief Ron Heller.
All five passengers in the Civic were taken to Altoona Regional Medical Center, said Chief Heller. He said that one of them, 18-year-old Nicole Lawrence of Maryland, was in critical condition yesterday.
The car's driver, Kaitlyn Leavins, 18, of Glen Mills, Delaware County, was treated and released, as were Holly Hamilton, 18, of Sinking Spring, Berks County, and Alyssa Walsh, 18, of Downingtown, Chester County.
The Jaguar's driver, Jason Sanders, 30, of Altoona, sustained minor injuries.
