City to pick up leaves in paper leaf bags
Saturday, October 31, 2009

Pittsburgh household leaf collection starts Monday.

Department of Public Works crews will take leaves placed in paper leaf bags on days when recyclable materials are collected, during designated weeks.

In the Northern Public Works Division, leaves will be picked up the first week of the month; in the Central Division, the second week; in the Southern Division, the third week; and in the Eastern Division, the fourth week.

The leaves will be composted into mulch.

City residents can also take leaves, grass and yard debris to drop-off sites at North Dallas and Hamilton avenues in Homewood; Hazelwood and Melanchton avenues in Hazelwood; Hassler Street off of Steuben Street in Elliott; and at 6520 Stanton Ave. in Highland Park. Proof of city residency is required.
