Friday, October 30, 2009

The University of Pittsburgh hopes to add 200 student beds adjacent to its Bouquet Gardens apartment complex in Oakland with the purchase of land that was approved today by the university.

The school trustees' Property and Facilities Committee authorized the $1.4 million purchase of a parcel of land in the 300 block of Oakland Avenue. A 2 1/2-story building on that site was most recently used as offices by Children's Hospital and the UPMC Health System.

The committee also authorized a $5.4 million residence hall complex on its Bradford campus and a new, $9.7 million multipurpose wellness and recreation center on the Johnstown campus.
