Four people were killed late Saturday night in a crash on Route 51 in Beaver County.
Three young men headed to a bachelor party were traveling in a red, sub-compact car when it broadsided a pickup truck attempting to cross the four lanes of Route 51 where it meets Route 168 in South Beaver, said Beaver County Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi.
The three men in the car were Louis Henry Young IV, 23; Joshua Jay Tate, 22; and Bryan Charles Atkinson, 23, all of Beaver Falls.
The female passenger in the pickup truck was Jessica Demarco, 25, of Patterson Heights, Beaver County.
All of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:40 p.m.
"It's just horrifically tragic on all ends," said Ms. Tatalovich-Rossi.
Ms. Demarco's husband, Daniel, who was driving the pickup, was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital. No information was available on his condition last night.
The coroner believes that the red car was traveling at a high rate of speed, which could have contributed to the cause of the crash.
It is believed that it was Mr. Tate's vehicle, but that Mr. Young was driving, said Ms. Tatalovich-Rossi.
Both Mr. Young and Mr. Atkinson were ejected from the car. Mr. Tate, who was a front-seat passenger, was wearing a seat belt.
Ms. Demarco, who also wore a seat belt, died from a fractured neck, Ms. Tatalovich-Rossi said.
The cause of death for each of the men was blunt force trauma. Results of blood-alcohol tests were not available yesterday.
According to Mr. Atkinson's mother, Donna Atkinson, the men were on their way to a bonfire for Mr. Young's bachelor party. He and his fiance were scheduled to marry on Saturday.
Ms. Atkinson believed that both her son and Mr. Tate were part of the wedding party.
Mr. Atkinson worked as an auto technician at Preston Dodge. He enjoyed racing all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles. Mr. Young also raced, Ms. Atkinson said.
The three men had been friends for a long time. Mr. Atkinson was living with his girlfriend and expected to get engaged soon, his mother said.
"He was just a good boy," she said. "He had a ton of friends."
