Imagine That

2 stars = Mediocre
Ratings explained
Eddie Murphy stars in a family comedy as a successful financial executive who has more time for his BlackBerry than his 7-year-old daughter until a crisis and creative solution appear. It could use more laughs, but Yara Shahidi is adorable as the daughter.

Cheri

3 stars = Good
Ratings explained
Three of the principals behind "Dangerous Liaisons" -- director Stephen Frears, writer Christopher Hampton and actress Michelle Pfeiffer -- reunite in this unconventional romance set in Belle Epoque Paris. A 19-year-old man is educated in the ways of women by a courtesan who happens to be a one-time rival of his mother's, retired from the seduction game. "Cheri" languishes in beauty, pleasure, appearances, a world yet unspoiled by war, and it's elevated by the Alexandre Desplat score, the costumes and exquisite Impressionistic images. Pfeiffer manages to acknowledge and defy age here in one of her best and most flattering roles in years.

• TV on DVD: "Fawlty Towers" (series); "It's Garry Shandling's Show" (series); "Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1960s"; "Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1970s"; "The L Word," season 6; "Hawaii Five-O," season 7; "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" (series); "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour: The Best of Season 2."
