A senior midfielder, Virgara has scored 21 goals this season.
n Ryan Bowen's goal in the 71st minute broke a 1-1 tie and allowed visiting No. 3 Peters Township (9-2-1, 7-0) to beat No. 5 Upper St. Clair (9-2-1, 5-2) for the second time, 2-1, in Section 5. Peters Township goalkeeper Zach Wilson made 16 saves, while Zach Partyka scored the other goal.

n In his first extensive field action this season, Tim Wood scored four goals to lead Class A top-ranked Greensburg Central Catholic (10-3, 10-0) to a come-from-behind, 7-3 win at Serra (8-4, 5-4) in Section 1. Wood, who scored 44 goals last season, primarily has played goalkeeper this season because of a knee injury.
n Troy Novak and Zack Wessell shot matching 1-over 36s at Diamond Run Golf Club, allowing North Allegheny to capture the Division 1, Section 3 title with a 187-214 victory against North Hills.
n Dan Altavilla's 1-under 35 at Butler's Golf Course propelled Elizabeth Forward to its fourth consecutive section championship with a 184-222 win against McKeesport in Division 1, Section 6.
n At Saxon Golf Course, Mars used a 1-under 35 from Jason Fitzpatrick to beat Knoch, 191-202, and clinch the top spot in Division 1, Section 8.
n Bishop Canevin clinched its fourth consecutive section title with a 211-256 rout of Carlynton at Chartiers Country Club in Division 2, Section 7.
n Defending WPIAL Class AA champion Ellis School got four goals from Julia Guthrie in a 6-0 shutout of visiting Greensburg Salem.
