Munhall man indicted on arson, mail fraud charges

A Munhall man has been indicted on federal charges that he set fire to his own restaurant to collect insurance money.

Bryan K. Russo, 40, owned the Chesapeake Steak and Seafood restaurant on Streets Run Road in Baldwin Borough. According to the indictment, he set fire to the building on Jan. 30, 2007. His insurance company paid out more than $1.1 million on his claim.

Mr. Russo is charged with arson and two counts of mail fraud. The indictment was returned by the grand jury on June 24, but it remained under seal until Wednesday.
