Two sources confirmed today that the Pirates have, indeed, made an offer to elite Dominican prospect Miguel Angel Sano. Neither source -- one inside, one outside the team -- would divulge the dollar figure or otherwise characterize the offer.

The offer was made early yesterday, and it was followed by a visit to Sano's home.

Nothing is expected to materialize on the Sano front, with the Pirates or any other team, until Major League Baseball completes its investigation of his age, and that could take a few days
