Les is more

Last Friday I spent a great evening listening to and marveling at the guitar playing and all-around musicianship of Les Dudek. Les, his bass player and drummer played to a sparse but very fortunate group of fans at Moondog's. For those who don't know him, he has played with the Allman Brothers, the Steve Miller Band, Boz Scaggs in the past and produced several solo records. He played his distinctive blues/rock with great fluency and some emotion, using songs from his early career as well as more recent material. He told the audience that the last time he was in Pittsburgh was when he played at Three Rivers Stadium in 1973 with the Allman Brothers. I can only hope that he will return to the city again and that many more Pittsburghers will make an effort to see a truly remarkable musician and listen to some great American music.

Rude awakening

In response to Marjorie Jones, Sara Fisher and Michelle Farabaugh regarding "Spring Awakening" (Feedback, June 18 and June 25), I agree with Marjorie. My cousin and I are subscribers to the Broadway Series and enjoy most of the performances, but "Spring Awakening" and "Avenue Q" were not our cup of tea. Sara Fisher said Marjorie Jones should have done her research on the show. We did research on both shows, but they are bundled in our series, and we have no choice but to go. They should offer questionable shows as standalone and whoever wants to see them can. When we go to the theater we want to be entertained not be made to feel uncomfortable.
