The Holy Trinity Catholic Parish Park-n-Ride lot in Robinson will close permanently to commuters on June 30, and the Port Authority of Allegheny County is looking for a lot to replace it.
"Obviously, the sooner we can find a new park-n-ride location, the better," said Port Authority spokesman Jim Ritchie.
The Holy Trinity lot, at the corner of Beaver Grade Road and 5718 Steubenville Pike, had 75 spaces.
Other available park-n-ride lots in that area include University Boulevard in Moon, the North Fayette Volunteer Fire Department lot on Steubenville Pike, Thorn Run Road at Route 51 in Moon and Grand Avenue on Neville Island.
Church spokesman Dottie Alke said: "We are going through a number of renovations in our building improvement campaign," and the lot that was used by commuters will be torn up.
The church made the lot available "for a number of years" and received "a few thousand dollars a year" from the Port Authority, said Mrs. Alke, who is on the parish's buildings and grounds committee.
Mr. Ritchie could not say what the Port Authority might be willing to pay for the use of a new park-n-ride location. Some communities donate lots at no cost, he said, especially when the Port Authority will make improvements to the lot, including paving.
