WPIAL Class AAA: Stefanik-led Blackhawk rolls past Knoch

Bryan Stefanik rushed for 163 yards on 14 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 53 and 29 yards to lead No. 3 ranked Blackhawk (2-0) to a surprisingly easy victory against Knoch (0-2), 37-13.

Stefanik also caught a 43-yard touchdown pass from Zach Hayward, who completed 8 of 13 passes for 136 yards. Hayward also connected with Jake Delmonico on a 7-yard scoring pass. Delmonico added a 70-yard touchdown run.

Knoch was led by Tim McNerney, who rushed for 84 yards on 19 carries and scored on a 6-yard run.

OTHER GAMES

Thomas Jefferson 43, Uniontown 7

The top-ranked Jaguars (1-1) scored all 43 points in the first half. Brian Baldrige led the way with 217 yards on 19 carries and scored on runs of 4, 56, and 4 yards.

Tyler Wehner connected with Dan Virgin on scoring passes of 19 and 20 yards and with Brock DeCicco on a 10-yard scoring pass. Wehner completed 6 of 10 passes for 113 yards.

Uniontown (1-1) scored on a 64-yard pass from Doug Sanner to Emilio Scalise.

Chartiers Valley 13, Yough 3

Santino Coury rushed for 133 yards on 24 carries and threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Sean Lapcevic in the third quarter to lead the Colts (1-1) to their first victory. Coury completed 8 of 13 passes for 99 yards.

Chartiers Valley also scored on a 17-yard run by Jim Riley. The Colts had 315 yards in total offense, including 216 on the ground.

Yough (0-2) scored its only points on a 38-yard field goal by J.D. Bazzo.

Franklin Regional 28, Ambridge 27

A missed extra point by the Bridgers' Shane Hilliard was the difference, as the Panthers improved to 2-0. Chad Bowman rushed for 256 yards on 20 carries and scored on runs of 25, 2, and 3 yards.

Franklin Regional also scored on a 26-yard pass from Anthony Vendemia to D.J. Capezzuto.

Wally Rideout rushed for 128 yards and scored on runs of 38, 14, and 1 yard for Ambridge (0-2).

Ringgold 34, Albert Gallatin 6

Simon Bekavac rushed for 148 yards on 15 carries and scored on runs of 1, 1, and 72 yards, as the Rams (2-0) remained unbeaten. Ringgold also scored on a 72-yard pass from Shane Mountain to Ricky Douglas and a 1-yard sneak by Mountain.

Albert Gallatin (1-1) scored its only points on a 2-yard run by Jeremiah Karpency, who had 88 yards on 20 carries.

Belle Vernon 49, Southmoreland 17

Cory Williams rushed for 159 yards on only 6 carries and scored twice on runs of 80 and 65 yards, as Belle Vernon (2-0) remained unbeaten. Brother Cody Williams scored on a 36-yard run. Matt Green scored twice for the Leopards on a 96-yard kickoff return and a 68-yard run.

Michael Stokes rushed for 148 yards for Southmoreland (0-2), while teammate Aaron Stasko scored on runs of 4 and 5 yards.

Derry 27, West Mifflin 14

The Trojans (1-1) ended a 25-game losing streak with its win against the visiting Titans (1-1).

Dominic Hoffman rushed for 163 yards on 10 carries and scored on runs of 5 and 2 yards for Derry. Hoffman also returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown.

Trinity 31, Greensburg Salem 13

Dan Miller rushed for 130 yards and Andrew Sterator threw for 130 yards to lead the visiting Hillers (1-1). Miller scored on a 2-yard run. Sterator connected with Joe Havniak on a 27-yard scoring pass.

Greensburg Salem (0-2) was led by Steve Fagert, who threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Fagert connected with Adam Short on a 28-yard scoring pass and with Drew Manley from 20 yards out.

Indiana 27, New Castle 18

Vinnie Gatti scored on runs of 13 and 3 yards to lead the Little Indians (2-0) to a win against the visiting Red Hurricanes (0-2). New Castle's Michael Bongivengo completed 20 of 25 passes for 208 yards.

Elizabeth Forward 42, Laurel Highlands 7

Cameron Dixon returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, then scored on a 4-yard run to lead the Warriors (2-0) to a convincing victory against the homestanding Mustangs (0-2).

Greg Sotereanos rushed for 109 yards on nine carries and scored on runs of 14 and 9 yards for the Warriors.

West Allegheny 10, Hampton 9

The No. 5 Indians (2-0) remain unbeaten with a win against the Talbots (0-2).
