WPIAL Class AAA: Mars blasts Moon, 35-0, in first Class AAA game

Shane Kaclik rushed for 138 yards on 15 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 17 and 10 yards, as Mars made its Class AAA debut with an impressive 35-0 non-conference win against Moon.

Austin Miele also scored a pair of touchdowns for Mars, on a 14-yard run and on a 32-yard pass from John Brake.

The Planets' final score came on a 1-yard sneak by Brake. Mars accumulated 331 yards in total offense, including 292 yards on the ground. Moon was held to 82 yards in total offense and turned the ball over four times.

OTHER GAMES

West Allegheny 21, Chartiers Valley 14

Ricky Moore scored on an 8-yard run with 3:24 left to give West Allegheny the winning touchdown. Jared Buck accounted for the Indians' other two scores with a 2-yard run and a 79-yard pass to John Vaccarello.

Chartiers Valley's Santino Coury led all rushers with 165 yards on 28 carries and scored on a 75-yard run. The Colts also scored on a 34-yard pass from Coury to Beau Carson.

Franklin Regional 42, Southmoreland 0

Anthony Vendemia threw touchdown passes of 86 and 50 yards to D.J. Capezzuto and connected with Kevin Ly on a 33-yard scoring pass to lead the Panthers to an easy victory. Vendemia completed three of four passes for 169 yards. Josh Rager added 108 yards on six rushing attempts for the Panthers.

Highlands 24, Fox Chapel 16

Jeff Sinclair threw for 154 yards and rushed for 106 on 17 carries, as the No. 4 ranked Golden Rams edged the Foxes. Sinclair scored on a 13-yard run and completed 15 of 27 passes.

Bill Devlin scored twice for Highlands on runs of 43 and 8 yards. Montay Green led Fox Chapel with 67 yards on 11 carries and scored on runs of 5 and 10 yards.

Hopewell 20, Knoch 0

Rushel Shell rushed for 87 yards on seven carries and scored on runs of 55, 8, and 15 yards to lead the Vikings to their upset of the No. 5 ranked Knights. Hopewell accumulated 245 yards in total offense, including 183 on the ground. Knoch had only 76 yards in total offense.

Indiana 28, Plum 7

Ben Fiscus threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Little Indians. Fiscus connected with Kevin Stapleton on touchdown passes of 31 and 9 yards and ran three yards for the other score.

Indiana also scored on a 20-yard run by Jay Pettina, who finished with 142 yards on 20 carries.

Blackhawk 41, Hampton 7

Matt Engle scored on touchdown runs of 2, 5, and 7 yards as the No. 3 Cougars ruined the debut of Talbots coach Jacque DeMatteo.

Bryan Stefanik led Blackhawk with 142 yards on 11 rushing attempts, which included an 80-yard touchdown run. Blackhawk had 401 yards in total offense and held Hampton to 188.

Ringgold 21, Peters Twp. 10

Tyler Patch returned a kickoff 92 yards and Ricky Douglas returned an interception 38 yards for another score to lead the Rams. Ringgold also scored on a 72-yard pass from Shane Mountain to Jake Spaziani. Peters scored on a 29-yard run by Austin Hancock and a 24-yard field goal by Jack Haveza.

W. Mifflin 56, Allderdice 12

Duane Burguin rushed for 153 yards on 18 carries and scored on runs of 16, 4, 10, and 11 yards for the Titans. Rick Olasz added touchdown runs of 17 and 1 yards, and connected with Ryan Jones on a 10-yard scoring pass.

Allderdice scored on touchdown passes of 89 and 16 yards from Mike Pfleger to Kendron Jones.

Belle Vernon 37, Laurel Highlands 28

Cory Williams rushed for 219 yards on 18 carries and scored on runs of 16, 33, 44, and 28 yards to lead the Leopards. Tim Bradley led Laurel Highlands with 202 yards on 29 carries and scored on runs of 16 and 2 yards.

Elizabeth Forward 35, Yough 14

Greg Sotereanos rushed for 115 yards on 14 carries and scored on runs of 11 and 33 yards to lead the Warriors. Damon Thaxton added an 86-yard touchdown on a fumble return.

Albert Gallatin 34, Wilkinsburg 6

Grayling Sanders scored on runs of 45 and 20 yards and caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Cody Teebles to lead Albert Gallatin. Teebles also threw a 32-yard scoring pass to Pat Kopas.

Uniontown 45, Connellsville 7

Doug Sanner's 167 yards passing and two touchdown passes led Uniontown to a win against visiting Class AAAA foe Connellsville.
