The New Stanton Service Plaza serving westbound traffic on the Pennsylvania Turnpike will be closed starting Wednesday following the busy Labor Day travel weekend as part of continuing reconstruction and modernization of all such facilities along the toll road.
The New Stanton plaza, located near the New Stanton interchange, is scheduled to be reopened again by Memorial Day.
In the meantime, it will become the fifth plaza to be expanded into a brighter, more spacious food-court style layout, with more selections and a contemporary look.
The plaza is being rebuilt by HMS Host Corp. of Bethesda, Md., and Sunoco Inc. of Philadelphia as part of a 30-year, public-private partnership in which the turnpike invests no money of its own.
