A Westmoreland County man was killed and another person was injured yesterday when the all-terrain vehicle they were riding went off the side of Route 819 in Bell in the county, state police said.

Larry Shearer, of Avonmore, died at the scene. Michael Bell, of Truxall, was flown to Allegheny General Hospital with head injuries.

The vehicle was traveling at a high speed when the driver lost control and it flipped several times, state police said. Neither person was wearing a helmet.
