Nearly $4 million in waterworks fixes on tap

Pennsylvania American Water has scheduled $3.9 million worth of water main and fire hydrant replacements and improvements this summer for Washington County and North and South Fayette in Allegheny County.

Here's a roundup of the work:

Central Avenue, Washington -- Approximately 500 feet of four-inch cast iron will be replaced with eight-inch ductile iron pipe.

Chestnut and Water streets, North Fayette -- Replace 1,000 feet of 1950's-era two-inch galvanized steel pipe with six-inch ductile iron pipe.

Francis Mine Road, Smith -- Two projects replacing 1,300 feet of six-inch cement and 4,500 feet of 10-inch cast iron with eight-inch and 12-inch ductile iron pipe, respectively.

Galley Road, North Strabane -- Approximately 1,000 feet of 1950's, two-inch and four-inch cast iron with eight-inch ductile iron.

Glen, Idaho and Nevada Streets, South Strabane -- Replace more than 3,700 feet of two-inch galvanized steel with eight-inch ductile iron pipe.

Hoge Alley, Washington -- More than 700 feet of two-inch galvanized steel will be replaced with four-inch ductile iron pipe.

Independence Road, Independence -- Replace 950 feet of 1950's-era 11/2-inch galvanized steel with eight-inch ductile iron pipe on Independence Road.

Jefferson Avenue, Washington -- Nearly 6,500 feet of 6-inch cast iron will be replaced with eight-inch ductile iron pipe.

Kish Avenue, South Strabane -- Replace nearly 700 feet of two-inch cast iron with eight-inch ductile iron pipe.

Langeloth Road to Francis Mine Road, Smith -- Replace nearly 7,800 feet of eight-inch and 10-inch cast iron with ductile iron pipe.

Laurel Avenue, Washington -- Replace more than 700 feet of four-inch cast iron with eight-inch ductile iron pipe.

Linnwood Drive, North Strabane -- Nearly 5,800 feet of eight-inch main will be replaced with a 12-inch ductile iron pipe for service area expansion.

Millers Run Road, Cecil -- Replace 3,800 feet of 1930's-era eight-inch cast iron with 12-inch ductile iron pipe.

Moffat Avenue. Washington -- Replace nearly 450 feet of two-inch galvanized steel with eight-inch ductile iron.

Nannie Street, South Strabane -- Replace 900 feet of two-inch 1940s era cast iron with eight-inch ductile iron pipe.

North Court Avenue, Washington -- Nearly 450 feet of two-inch galvanized steel will be replaced with six-inch ductile iron pipe.

Pinewood Drive, South Fayette -- Replace 750 feet of six-inch cast iron with eight-inch ductile iron pipe.

Route 19, North Strabane -- Approximately 1,900 feet of eight-inch main will be replaced with 12-inch ductile iron pipe in order to increase fire hydrant flows and allow for service area expansion.

Scott Way, Canonsburg -- Replace 400 feet of 1940's two-inch galvanized steel with four-inch ductile iron pipe.
