Another top officer resigned today from the West Penn Allegheny Health System, one in a string of departures from the region's second-largest medical provider.

Before leaving, Dawn Javersack had been vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Taking her place is Edward Roeber, who is new to the system.

Ms. Javersack could not be reached but West Penn Allegheny spokesman Dan Laurent confirmed the executive's resignation and declined further comment.

The new chief executive officer of the system, Dr. Christoper Olivia, has been shaking up his executive staff and hiring consultants since his arrival in March.

Another chief financial officer, David Samuel, left at the end of March and former chief operating officer James Rosenberg left in May. Meanwhile, Roy Santarella was brought in from the Philadelphia area to be executive vice president and chief adminsitrative officer, and Janice James assumed the post of acting chief integration officer, in charge of a long-promised consolidation of servcies and departments at the North Side's Allegheny General Hospital and The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Blomfield. Ms. James is from Wellspring Partners, the Chicago group hired by Dr. Olivia to help with a turnaround of the system.

Dr. Olivia is planning a series of employee meetings in late July and early August to present "an overview of my first 100 days," he said in an e-mail to employees. "I will review the system's present position and where we would like to see it evolve."

The first gathering is 9 a.m. July 28 at the West Penn Hospital conference center auditorium.
