A health alert kept swimmers out of the water at one of 13 managed beaches on Presque Isle in Erie County.
Since 10 a.m. yesterday, swimming has been banned on Presque Isle State Park's Beach 1 W Extension due to elevated counts of E. coli bacteria, which is found in feces.
During swimming restrictions, park visitors are denied entry to the water at the affected beach, but the beach area remains open.
The restriction affects only Beach 1 W Extension. All other Presque Isle beaches are open for swimming 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily. For additional information call 814-833-7424.
