Don't try to drive outbound on the Parkway East/Interstate 376 this weekend unless you crave the sight of red brake lights and the aroma of exhaust.

Weather permitting, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will close the outbound lanes from Churchill (Exit 10A) to Monroeville from 9 tonight until 4 p.m. Sunday. The outbound section from Edgewood/Swissvale (Exit 7) to Churchill will be reduced to a single lane.

The eastbound off-ramp from the parkway to northbound Route 8 at Wilkinsburg (Exit 8B) will be closed from 9 tonight to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The on-ramps from Route 8 (Wilkinsburg) and Route 30 (Forest Hills) to the eastbound parkway will be closed from 9 tonight to 9 p.m. Aug. 29.

No work is planned on the inbound side of the parkway.

The work is part of a 2.92-mile, $22.8 million improvement project.
