State police early Sunday morning found a Somerset County man dead inside a residence they surrounded Saturday night.

Rex Younkin, 45, of Rockwood, was found inside his Water Level Road home in Milford around 2 a.m., according to state police. He was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Mr. Younkin had pointed a shotgun and threatened Roxanne Garrety, 47. Ms. Garrety escaped and ran to a neighbor's home, police said. State police were called around 6:30 p.m. and saw Mr. Younkin go back inside his home. Troopers attempted to contact Mr. Younkin. After several hours, they entered the house and found him dead inside. The case is under investigation.
