Ashlee to wed? Brinkley on Walters; Vegas honors Sinatra
Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Christie Brinkley, with ex-husband Peter Cook in happier times. She knows a little bit about being cheated on, so we're not surprised she's disappointed in Barbara Walters' behavior.

Are Ashlee Simpson and her fiancee, Pete Wentz, heading down the aisle this weekend?

You know we don't know.

But the US Weekly is reporting that the two are set to jump the broom Saturday. They've only been engaged for half a minute, but the report also says that the couple is expecting a baby in October, so that could have something to do with it.

Even for a maybe pregnant woman, Ashlee has been pretty adept at eluding questions about her possible pending mommyhood.

The New York Daily News' Rush & Molloy reported last month that A and P were scheduling a wedding at the end of May. Looks like they might be right.

Everybody's been weighing in on the startling revelation that Barbara Walters had an affair, and now it's Christie Brinkley's turn.

Lara Spencer from "The Insider" interviewed the ageless beauty last night and she had this to say about Barbara: "I was a little surprised by the affair with the married man. Barbara is a pretty smart cookie. How did that happen? I didn't think intelligent women did that!"

OUCH!

We can all understand that Christie might be a little touchy on that subject since her ex-hubby, Peter Cook, cheated on her with some PYT (pretty young thing).

But if looking good is the best revenge, then Christie has gotten her vengeance.

Las Vegas is honoring Frank Sinatra on the 10 anniversary of his death by declaring today Frank Sinatra Day.

We'll put this under the category of "After the Love Is Long Gone."

Hometown football god, Joe Montana, is suing his ex-wife and Donora native, Kim Moses, and a Texas auction house for selling Joe's old love letters and other items, reports the Smoking Gun. The ex-Mrs. Montana, by the way, is executive producer on CBS's "Ghost Whisperer."

Anyway, Kim, via the Heritage Auction, sold off Mr. Montana's freshman ID card and a letter on a Ziggy card (oh, how sweet). Girlfriend even had their 1974 marriage license auctioned off.

To be fair, they have been divorced since 1979, so maybe she just needed more space in the closet or garage.

Anyway, Joe claims, Kim got some of the stuff without his permission and that the sale violated his copyright and privacy rights. He's seeking more than $75,000 in damages.

Rapper Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in the slammer for shooting a friend in the gut last summer.

Of course, Ma said it was an accident, but a jury didn't buy that.

"I'm not a menace to society and I still have so much to offer," the rapper told Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Rena Uviller. "I'm pleading with you to give me a second chance."

Well, the judge did cut her a little break. Remy could have gotten 25 years.

The victim, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, said never in a million years did she ever think her former friend would shoot her. She said she's had numerous surgeries and still has numbness in her legs.

Brooklyn-born Remy was set to marry her boyfriend and fellow rapper Papoose at Riker's on Monday. However, that was nixed after Papoose showed up with a handcuff key, according to the New York Daily News.

Now, he has been banned from seeing his incarcerated lady love for six months.
