A plea deal was postponed again today for a graffiti artist charged with vandalizing buildings and bridges around the city.
Daniel J. Montano, 22, who attended art school in San Francisco before he was arrested for the graffiti spree, intends to plead guilty to the charges. But his attorney, William Cercone Jr., is still straightening out the monetary damages with Assistant District Attorney Matthew Robinowitz.
The initial indictment does not specify damages for each of about 20 offenses. But the monetary costs for each charge will determine whether it is a low-grade felony or a misdemeanor and will determine how much he owes in restitution.
The prosecutor told the court he will have time to assess the damages in full by Friday morning, when the defendant is set to enter his plea before Allegheny County Judge Kevin G. Sasinoski. Sentencing is scheduled for July 24. Mr. Montano is being held at the county jail.
