Dennis Farina and his handgun; Dad Archuleta is banned; the return of Tina;
Monday, May 12, 2008

Actor Dennis Farina was arrested at LAX Sunday morning after authorities found a loaded gun in his suitcase.

Now how did that get there?

Dennis told the cops that he forgot he had the .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol in his carry-on, reports TMZ.

We hate when that happens.

Anyway, the 64-year-old actor was booked for carrying a firearm in a public place and bail was set at $25,000.

Just in case you haven't heard the father of "American Idol" fave, David Archuleta, has been banned from backstage.

David's daddy, Jeff Archuleta, has just been sticking his nose into everything, messing with the producers -- just being a regular old pain in the you know where.

TMZ reports that the final straw was when he wanted to change the lyrics to "Stand by Me," which his boy sang last week.

The producers told him no, but when David sang the song, the one line was changed to what his daddy wanted. Apparently the little switch cost "AI" some dough, so the show's people are not happy.

We thought we were through rollin' on the river with 68-year-old Miss Tina Turner, but apparently not.

The hardest working woman in showbiz (before she gave up the spotlight) is coming out of retirement for a 17-city tour of the United States and Canada.

Now, the youngsters will get a chance to see where Beyonce learned how to rock a stage.

You know Tina and B performed together at the Grammys last year and it was off the hook. "Everywhere I went people were asking me when I was going back on tour," Tina said in a statement.

Well, she answered that question. The private dancer will kick things off in Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 1.

Sorry, she's not heading back to Pittsburgh this go 'round. She was here for what was supposed to be her last tour and she was PHENOMENAL!

Nicole Richie appears on the cover of the June issue of Harper's Bazaar and inside with her father, Lionel, her boyfriend Joel Madden and baby girl, Harlowe.

Asked what surprised her the most about motherhood, Nicole answered: "Hmmm, I would say how fun it is. ... Everyone talks about how difficult it is in the first three months, but I absolutely love it."

Asked about the public's interest in his daughter, Lionel said, "It's because she is real. She is always brutally honest. What she says is what she means. Everywhere I go they love Nicole. She would be a hit anywhere. I love her so much, and that's not speaking as her father, that's speaking as a fan."

We have a question?

Just what did Nicole do to be famous?

At least Jennie Garth was in "Beverly Hills 90210."

And Jennie will once again play Kelly Taylor, but this time she will be a guidance counselor to the angst-filled teens of the new 90210 spinoff.

n

Well, we'll file this under stuff we did not know.

Teen idol Jesse McCartney, who has a new album called "Departure" that drops May 20, co-wrote the Leona Lewis smash "Bleeding Love."

Did you all know that?

Anyway, little Jesse's tour starts Saturday in New York. So far the 'Burgh is not on the schedule.

Pretty soon everybody and their mommas will have a reality show.

Next up is comedian Eddie Griffin of "Undercover Brother" fame.

Yes, yes, y'all, Mr. Griffin will go the celebreality route on VH1 with a show tentatively titled "Eddie Griffin Going for Broke," reports Black Talent News.

We will definitely have to watch and discuss.

The folks who produced the Emile Hirsch-starring dud, "Speed Racer, " could have saved a lot of money if they would have just asked us before they did it.

They should have aimed the film at the parents, who grew up watching Speed, Trixie, Spritle and Chim Chim first and then the kids.

That said, all that whirling, swirling color is not good for anybody, young or old.
