Allderdice gets new principal -- again
Friday, March 23, 2007

Allderdice High School in Squirrel Hill will have a new principal Monday -- its third one this school year.

The Pittsburgh school board on Wednesday tapped Bernard Komoroski, a retired district teacher and administrator, to run Allderdice through July 31. He will be paid $600 a day.

He is replacing Cassandra Richardson Kemp, who came out of retirement to take over the school when Superintendent Mark Roosevelt abruptly removed Kevin McGuire as principal a month into the school year. Dr. Kemp had been Allderdice's principal before retiring at the end of the 2005-06 school year.

Board members voted in January to extend Dr. Kemp's contract through June 30, but she decided to leave now for personal reasons, Pittsburgh Public Schools spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said.

The letter says Mr. Komoroski began his career in 1972 as a teacher at Allegheny High School, now closed. He was an assistant principal at several middle and high schools before serving as principal of South Hills Middle School in 1996 and as principal of Carrick High School from 1997 until his retirement in 2003.
