In a matchup of teammates at yesterday's City League singles tennis championship, the elder Spartan went home with the title.
Schenley teammates Lionel Williams and Micah Slavkin met in the title match at Greentree Racquet Club. Williams, a senior and the tournament's No. 1 seed, beat Slavkin, a junior, 6-1, 6-2.
The victory culminated a dominating performance by Williams. After a first-round bye, he won two matches Monday by scores of 10-0 and 10-1, then beat Langley's Eric Feldbauer, 10-0, in the semifinals yesterday.
Williams was a semifinalist in last year's tournament, which was won by Allderdice's Andrew Dealy. A star in soccer and hockey, Dealy chose not to play tennis this spring.
Williams will compete in the PIAA tournament May 25-26 at Penn State.
